What Began with Fewer Than a Hundred

Dr. Mildred Mudany

Dr. Mildred Mudany

Alumna, University of Nairobi

Dr. Mildred Mudany came to NET in 1984 at the University of Nairobi, attending evangelistic team meetings alongside the Christian Union. She was part of that year’s mission — hosted by local church leaders — going house to house in the evenings and holding open-air meetings, with powerful word ministry, she recalls, without even using any microphones. The whole fellowship then numbered fewer than a hundred, mostly students. Today, workers serve at different levels across the colleges.

NET also gave her a family: it was there that she met the man she would marry. They had known each other as children in the same village, but it was at university, through NET, that the connection that mattered happened.

Through the COVID season, members raised a lot of money on WhatsApp — and the leadership centre went up. She loves cell groups and suggests they be organised into cohorts so that members grow together. She would also love a gathering of the original NET members — among them Prof. William Gilbert and his wife.

She invites everyone to the launch of the leadership centre on 27 December: from a fellowship of fewer than a hundred to a place where generations will be trained.
